Strike A Pose

Our two sons have for as long as I can remember had a thing about "posing" when they have a picture taken. They will do their "JC Penney Pose". What you may ask is that? Well, you know all those pictures in catalogs that have (the men especially) looking at their watches or pointing to the sky?? Well, that is their "pose".
Youngest son needed a coat today as it was snowing and windy so we checked in Grandpa's closet and pulled out a coat...then he spotted a cap...then he spotted gloves..then he realized the cap had earflaps..and down those came. What we have next is a blurry "photo shoot" because I got to laughing so hard I couldn't hold the camera still.
So, the next time you have a photo taken ...remember this post and STRIKE A POSE!
Mare
p.s. and yes I DO realize we are absolute DORKS! LOL

  3. YOUR SON IS QUITE HANDSOME. I THINK IT'S FUN TO BE DORKS ONCE IN A WHILE. JUST HAVE SOME FUN WHEN YOU CLEAN OUT THE HOUSE. YOU COULD DRESS UP IN THE SAME OUTFITS AND FRAME THE PICTURES SIDE BY SIDE. THAT WAY YOU CAN REMEMBER THE FUN YOU AND YOUR SON HAD PLAYING DRESS UP IN DADS' CLOTHES.
WE HAD SOME BAD NEWS YESTERDAY SO WE'LL BE STAYING CLOSE TO THE PHONE TODAY.
    EVERYONE HAVE A GOOD DAY.

  5. JUST WAITING TO HEAR SOMETHING FROM A HOSPITAL UP NORTH. IT'S ALWAY SOMETHING. ONE DOCTOR SAYS ONE THING THAN ANOTHER DOCTOR SAY NO IT'S SOMETHING ELSE. JUST WHO CAN YOU TRUST YOUR LIFE WITH THESE DAYS. THE STRESS CAN KNOCK YOU FOR A LOOP. THANK GOD I HAVE LEARN TO TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME.

When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?

  7. How fun!! My kids love to strike poses when we take pictures - either that, or they run the other way and refuse to have them taken at all! LOL

Annie, come on along...we can find an outfit for you too I'm sure!
Amy, if you think it's something now, wit until the kiddos grow up..still a great bunch of laughs...
Luv, not so sure he studied it that much, just that he and older brother thought the models were dorky looking and they always said "I hope they pay those guys a LOT of money!" lol
Off to MIL's for the day ?? Hope it was a good visit...
My sister said she visited dad today and he was in a good "story-tellin'" mood (which is actually a good thing for him I think.
Granny..any news on your girl yet? Hope so..and praying it is GOOD news..
Beth..you still snuggled up at the bed and breakfast?? Hope you are having a BLAST..
OK< probably should go face some more boxes..

  12. Hello Mare and Mare-bloggers!
Love this song Mare,so soothing and familiar.I am trying to sing along and remember all of the words, good thing I am here alone and not scaring anyone! I am back in NYC after spending the weekend in the north fork of Long Island.I have learned that is where all of the wineries are, the Hamptons are on the south fork.If you like wine tasting it is a fun weekend trip. Great food, also. I feel like I ate and 'sipped' wine all weekend.A fun time! Now back to home tomorrow :-(

Mare-it does sound like your dad likes his new home. I so pray it continues! Love the pics of your son. We are a family of dorks also!!!

Well I am off to bake a big pan of lasagne for Mr.NYC to have for a few days at least when I am gone.
Hugs to all and WELCOME newbies who have posted!

  15. MARE, PEEK. LOL.WE KNOW YOUR BUSY TODAY BUT TAKE TIME AND HAVE A CUP OF TEA.

KATIE, I AGREE MARES' SON LOOKS LIKE A PENNYS' MODEL. CUTE,CUTE, CUTE.TO BE THAT AGE AND KNOW WHAT I KNOW TODAY. YUP TO BE YOUNG.WHEN DO YOU GO TO THE BEACH? DID YOU GET THAT BIKINI?

BETH, SO GLAD YOU HAD A FUN TIME HERE IN THE EAST. I LOVE DRIVING THROUGH ALL THE WINERIES IN N.Y.. ONE OF OUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO WHEN WE WHERE SPENDING OUR SUMMERS THERE IN UPSTATE. N.Y.THE STATE HAS ALOT TO OFFER IF ONLY THE STATE WASN'T OVER TAXES. I BET HALF THE GOOD FOLKS THAT LIVED THERE LEFT.THEY CAN'T AFFORD THE TAXES.

FIXING PORK BARBECUE OR I SHOULD SAY GRAMPS IS FIXING IT. LOL IT ONLY TOOK HIM ONE HOUR TO PUT THE HOMEMADE SAUCE TOGETHER. YOU'D THINK HE WAS BUILDING A SKY SCRAPER. AT LEAST HE TRIES.

ANNIE DID YOU MISS THE STORMS THERE IN YOUR AREA? SO MANY DIED IN N.C.. THE NEWS SAID THERE'RE MORE THAN 250 TORNADOES. WE WERE LUCKY. THEY DIDN'T CAUSE A PROBLEM HERE IN FLORIDA.

ENJOY YOUR DAY. WERE JUST CHILLING AND WAITING.

  16. Mare, huge congrats on finishing the sorting upstairs. I'm sure that was a daunting task! Hang in there!!

Hi to Mare's Sister from a few days ago!

Beth, so glad you got to have your long weekend on Long Island! Aha! Wineries in the upper leg! We didn't go up there! By Sag Harbor? Sounds so beautiful! And you are so sweet to bake a lasagne for MrNYC before you go. So sweet. Have a safe trip back home.

Luvs, yes -- do tell us more about your pups, please!

Sunday at Jeanne's wasn't the worst ever but there were certainly a number of "issues". Her dementia is getting worse, but Kevin just can't see it. It's his mom after all. She is scheduled to have an endoscopy next Monday morning and I am seriously thinking of cancelling it. She can't begin to follow the pre-surgical orders (when to take what meds, nothing to eat after 8 pm, nothing to drink after midnight, etc.) If I reminded her Sunday afternoon of them, she wouldn't begin to remember what I told her by 8 pm. The doctor already told us that even with this endoscopy, he wouldn't be able to do much for her. And they're putting her under anesthesia -- she's 84 and in really poor health, but they don't seem concerned. I certainly am! They even want her to take 2 pills at 4:00 a.m. and there's no one there to wake her and give her pills. She can't do it on her own. I think I'll call them tomorrow and have a LONG talk with them...

Kevin and I joked about needing to stop and get a couple of straight shots of tequila or something when we left her house. LOL

Her other son (who lives with her)fell off the wagon and is drinking heavily again. When we got there yesterday he could BARELY stand up, he was so drunk. Very pleasant, indeed. And a big help with Jeanne. Not.

I didn't get to sleep at all last night, worrying about all this stuff. Stayed up until 10 am today and finally got a few hours' sleep.

Sorry to dump but sometimes I think my head is going to explode. LOL (just got a mental visual of that!)

I'm sure there are a zillion people worrying about things much harder than this in the world today. Some of them are right here!

Hope your dad has a good day, Mare. What's the temp where you are now? Sixty-two and gray here today. I'll take it!

    WyGuy/Lanay--loved your Fargo reference! LOL

Off to get some things done before Kev gets home. Or he might work a couple of hours overtime tonight. I don't know yet.

    Your whiney friend today,
    Katie

    ReplyDelete
  17. Kathy, you are NOT whiney!!! What a deal..I hope it works to cancel it..like you said, what are they going to do? I had a friend stop by a couple days ago and she said the same thing about her dad...asked what they would do after a procedure and they said "nothing"...they would just know...DUH!
I'm also sorry about the BIL...what a time ...imagine the stress is getting to him but MIL sure doesn't need THAT! (nor do you and Kevin!)
Thinking of you and hoping all works out well..what day do you leave for your vacay? You will NEED it!
    Take care...hugs..
    Mare
