Step by Step

"OH BE CAREFUL LITTLE FEET WHERE YOU GO..
OH, BE CAREFUL LITTLE FEET WHERE YOU GO..
FOR THE FATHER UP ABOVE, IS LOOKING DOWN WITH LOVE
SO BE CAREFUL LITTLE FEET WHERE YOU GO.."
(sunday school song)

Looking through treasures mom had kept, I found a little pair of my shoes. They are old and hard and well worn. On the bottom, I can see where there were many steps taken with my little feet inside of these shoes...where was I going? Toddling toward mom as she smiled and called to me only to sweep me up in her arms and "love" on me?? or towards my dad or sisters? Did I try to run to my grandma whe n she came over to visit? I imagine it was all of the above plus trying to catch any kitty or puppy I saw.

I think it is still important to ask ourselves where our feet are taking us...whether we are young or old(er).. Are they taking us toward people who need our help, love and support? Are they taking us toward our friends and people who need compassion...toward continued learning and love...

For me, the little feet that belonged in these shoes were set on the path toward our Heavenly Father before I was even born...and continue on that path even now...it is who I am.

  3. I LOVE this one also Mare. So sweet...so true. You have such a gift with your words. I just feel like I am sitting next to you when I am reading your beautiful words. I don't know where my shoes are going to take me next but I do have faith that God has a plan for me and I just hope I am smart enough to follow it! I looked at more homes today and didn't feel like any of them were the 'one'. And on I go...

I don't know exactly where Ross lives but know he is in the general area of where my cousin lives. Dinner was yummy, nothing fancy because he(cuz) just flew in for the dinner and then he was flying right back to NYC because that is where Steve is right now.

Amy-LOVED the video on your blog!Made me cry...

    TG-Hi!

    Hi Mary!

Katie-I know, it makes no sense me leaving right in the middle of the chaos. If it wasn't for Mr.NYC being the best man in this wedding and him REALLY disliking going to weddings alone, I wouldn't go.But I want to be there for him and this is our life, this is our normal.

    Hugs, Beth

  5. MARE, PEEKERVILLE HERE. CHURCH WAS GREAT AND WATCHED A VIDEO SENT FROM KENYA WHERE MY DAUGHTER IS ON A MISSION AS I'M SURE YOU'VE READ. HER LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME WHEN SHE GETS BACK. SHE'S JUST LIKE ME.WE ALWAYS WANT EVERYONE TO BE HAPPY AND WELL FED. I'M SURE SHE'LL SHED A FEW TEARS WHEN SHE HAS TO LEAVE BEHIND THE HUNGREY CHILDREN. ALL I KNOW IS SHE'S DOING GODS' WORK. THAT'S A GOOD THING.SHE'LL HAVE ALOT TO TELL HER CHILDREN AND PICTURES TO SHOW. HER HUBBY WANTED TO GO ALSO BUT NEEDED TO STAY BEHIND FOR THE YOUNGER CHILDREN AS OUR OLDEST GRANDSON IS IN ENGLAND WITH HIS TEACHERS AND SOME OF HIS BUDDIES LEARNING HOW OTHERS LIVE ETC. I BELIEVE HE'LL BE PRESIDENT SOMEDAY.LOL

BETH, ONLY BUY THE ONE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH. CHECK IT OUT 100%. YOU DON'T NEED TO SPEND $$$$$ FIXING. WE'RE STILL FIXING. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD. AND WHAT'S LAYING AROUND IN YOUR NEIGHBORS YARD. I DIDN'T AND WE HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THEIR GARBAGE BETWEEN OUR YARDS. I'M ALWAYS PICKING UP THEIR PAPERS THAT BLOW ALL OVER THE PLACE. I DON'T WANT TO MAKE THEM MAD SO I JUST GO AND PICK THE JUNK UP. ALSO, THEY HAVE SIX DOGS. THANK GOD WE DON'T HAVE TO MUCH OF A PROBLEM WITH THEM BARKING BECAUSE THEY KEEP THEM IN THE HOUSE MOST OF THE TIME. CAN YOU BELIEVE LIVING WITH SIX DOGS. NOT ME. JOEY IS ALL I CAN HANDLE. HIS BARKING DRIVES ME CRAZY AT TIMES.

KATIE, IS YOUR MOTHER DOING BETTER? IS SHE UP AND WALKING AROUND AND BACK TO HER OLD SELF? I STILL WISH YOU COULD GET OUT TO SEE HER AGAIN SOON.I WANTED SO MUCH TO HAVE ANOTHER MOTORHOME AGAIN AND SPEND MY SUMMERS IN UPSTATE N.Y.. IF I HAD A FOOTREST IN MY CAR I COULD TRAVEL. IT WOULD BE SO COOL TO GET BACK TO CICERO AND CHECK OUT THE AREA.

  6. Awww, those baby shoes are just so sweet! Love what you wrote about where our feet take us, Mare. Something to think about. Today my feet took me junkin'. Didn't buy anything, but had fun looking. Now my feet are resting before I go out and do a little yard work.

Thanks for saying you like my name, Granny. I like yours, too!

  8. Mare, I have a "thing" for baby shoes. They are so precious they just fascinate me. I like to imagine what the toddler who wore them did in them, sort of like you did in your post. Your post was amazing. Beautiful words and thoughts. Thank you! xox
