Staycation Time

My GREAT find at the "junk" store
Well, FINALLY...we had a break! A lot of days (especially by hubby) worked clear through the weeks and then out he went with the store trailer while I stayed in the store for HIM...Our granddaughter came down to help out and Megan was here with Graycie, but they wound up coming down to the store so we could visit (Graycie got to help gramps one day too..the girls worked hard and really were a great help..Moe wants to come again next summer to help after she graduates high school. After all the hard pushing, we got a surprise week off...what to do??? No time to plan, so we had a "staycation"...a much needed break. We started off the first day by relaxing and cleaning around a much-neglected house, then on Tuesday we went to visit my dad...Wednesday was another "hangin' out at home" day with a short drive to the next town for lunch and a "junk shop" (check out the pictures to see what I found), then Thursday we headed to O'Neill to clean up at the cemetery and tend mom's much-neglected gravesite, and stopped to visit Hubby's mom and stepdad...Ole went along, but we dropped him off at "doggie daycare" on the way into town as we thought that was best for ALL involved LOL... Friday we used the day to clean cobwebs...and can I just say it was BAD..I admit it! YUCK! cleaned out the windows and corners, etc...isn't perfect, but MUCH better..we also made some calls to our health insurance and drs office and hospital to try to run down what was up with a payment that SHOULD have been made! OH NO..the week went by quickly...Saturday, we headed into Lincoln to visit with youngest son and his girlfriend whose parents so graciously offered to have us stay over (and PLEASE bring Ole with you, we LOVE him LOL...so sweet) Anyway, we went to a ballgame (the local team) and about FROZE, but saw the home team win after a slow go and then FIREWORKS afterwards..and not just some "piddly" fireworks, but a truly awesome display. Sunday morning brunch and a trip to the farmer's market and we headed back home. Today found Hubs back at work and Ole and I were there for just a bit (a meeting this a.m. and a quick stop this afternoon) Yes indeed, a much needed rest...I'm ready for another one! Guess we'll wait a bit for another break as the silly utilities people, internet, etc seem to think they want paid, so guess we should be working to pay a few bills. We finally have a break in the weather and even had a short rain on Saturday... and how was YOUR week?

Ole went all over with us-he obviously enjoyed the rides!

  3. So happy that you and Mike got some time off! And you accomplished so much! Love the pictures, and of course, love the stool. Don't touch it, it has just the right amount of chippy-ness!

  4. Wow, your week "off" doesn't sound very relaxing! But I know, sometimes it just feels good to have time to do all those things we just can't seem to get to. Now for those darn bills to go away! Thanks for the update, you know I am nosy/curious when we don't hear from you in a while.

I went to Northern Cal for 3 days last week. My dear friend has a house in Pebble Beach and I went to visit. It is so beautiful there AND it was about 25' cooler then here at the time. With such hot weather it seems strange to hear you say you were cold at the game!

I agree with Luv... I like the look of the stool! Very shabby and trendy!

Hello to all! Thank you TG for the kind words :-)

    Hugs, Beth

  6. Hi everyone...just posted a quick new post, but wanted to say "hi" in area51 (all my old Ross blog buddies know about the "dreaded" area 51! LOL) I do have to give a big WOOT to Ross for having that blog...I hit the jackpot on new friends through that blog! Lucky ME!
Things are slowing just a bit...hubby is busy at work, but not the LOAD that he had before...and I'm in and out of the store again, so that is nice.
Granny, Ole always WANTS to go with us, but he is a nervous nelly in the car.. (I often break out the benadryl for him-dr approved of course!) Living away from Megan now we don't have our "reserve" place for him to visit while we are gone, so he has HAD to go with us more as I don't care to leave him just anywhere...rather have him get used to new things..is good for him and us!
I see Linda visited from her blog...I had seen on Mockingbird Hill Cottage that Claudia's dog Riley lost his battle (look under blog list on the right to visit and read Riley's story) and came across Linda who had lost her sweet doggie the same day.. I feel certain she would appreciate a word of comfort if you'd like to visit her blog (just follow her name on the comment she left)
Hope you're all having a great day...TG, sure been thinking of you and hoping your week is going well..
Hello to all who stop by and comment or just peek...waving to you all...
Off to enjoy my day at home..doing...well, NOT MUCH! :)
