Bathtime

Oh my! Hope it warms up soon enough to run through the car wash ! Salty grit can wreak havoc on the paint so here's hoping that bathtime can be SOON!

  1. REMINDS ME OF THE OLD NORTHERN DAYS OF SNOW AND SALT. ALSO RUSTY CARS.THAT'S ONE BLESSING WE GET LIVING IN THE SOUTH NO RUSTY CARS UNLESS YOU LIVE AT THE BEACH. THEN YOU HAVE TO WASH YOUR CAR [LOTS].SALTY AIR CAN KILL A CAR.
HOPE EVERYONE DAY WAS AS GOOD AS MINE. I MANAGED TO MAKE SWISS STEAK,MASH POTATOES AND PEAS.IF I SAY SO MYSELF IT WAS THE BEST. IT'S ALWAY A STRUGGLE TO STAND AND COOK BUT GRAMPS HAS BEEN BUSY ALL WEEK DOING BUSINESS AND GONE ALL DAY SO I WANTED HIM TO HAVE A REAL GOOD MEAL WHEN HE GOT HOME. HE WAS JUST DELIGHTED. SO MARE HOW WAS YOUR DAY? DID YOU GET THE CAR
    WASHED?
    GOOD TIMES AHEAD, LOU

  2. Lou...You just brought back memories to me. My mom use to make swiss steak, mash potatoes and peas. She would put the steak in the pressure cooker, with tomatoes and onions (spices too,I am sure). It was one of my favorite meals growing up.

I made it once for my family and my kids did not like it so I never attempted it again.

Gramps really lucked out with a wonderful dinner last night prepared by you.

I am up early this morning, breathing a lot better with the help of the medication.

My car needs to be washed again but I have to wait for the temps to come up before my son takes it to the car wash. He washed it on 1/14 and then the temps took a drop. Mare your car does not look too bad. My car is red and I have a white coat of salt running down the sides of it. Forecast is the temps will be rising next week.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

    Take Care,
    Gloria

  3. GRANNY, you brought back childhood memories for me, too! Swiss steak, with mashed potatoes and peas (or green beans) was one of my mom's specialties, and definitely one of my favorite meals. We always got to choose our meal on our birthdays, and mine was either swiss steak, or meat loaf (her other really yummy recipe). Your husband is very lucky to come home to a nice stick-to-your-ribs dinner like that after having a busy day!

Mare, since I don't have to deal with snow here, I can't imagine having to worry about getting the salt washed off your car. Sounds like a hassle, and I recommend that you move to California right away!

  5. I third that! LOL

I have a convertible so it can't be taken thru car washes! We have to wait until it's above freezing and rinse it off with the hose and a mitt. I'm glad I didn't have it when I lived in Boston! LOL

We have a couple of inches of snow today.

I don't think my mom made swiss steak very often. I don't remember what it tastes like or if I liked it. Sure was nice of you, Granny, to cook that for Gramps though!

I thought of something else that we use that would be useless to Californians -- heated seats in cars! Couldn't live without mine!

    xoxox to all

    1. Katie, it can get pretty cold here, although not like you guys get, so heated seats are gaining popularity!

  6. WE HAD LEFTOVER FROM OUR DINNER AT NOON TODAY. I TOLD GRAMPS IT WAS LIKE EATING CANDY BUT BETTER. THIS AFTERNOON GRAMPS TOOK ME FOR A RIDE DOWN TO SEE THE OTHER PLACE. HE'S BEEN WORKING HARD GETTING IT READY FOR THE LADY TO MOVE IN. WHEN I WALKED INTO THE PLACE IT FELT SO STRANGE BECAUSE WE LIVE THERE FOR A FEW YEARS BUT EVEN THOUGH THE PLACE IS NICE I LOVE WHERE WE ARE NOW EXCEPT TO MUCH HOUSE TO KEEP CLEAN. I HAVE DUST AND MORE DUST. IF I COULD FIND SOMEONE THAT WAS TRUST WORTHY I'D HIRE SOMEONE EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS JUST TO WASH UP THE FLOORS AND DUST. IT WOULD BE A BIG HELP.

GIRLS, I'M SO GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT LOVES SWISS STEAK. SO EASY TO MAKE AND YET SO YUMMY.I COOK IT FOR A COUPLE HOURS OR MORE UNTIL THE STEAK IS TENDER AND YOU CAN CUT IT WITH A FORK.

ROUND STEAK FLOURED THEN BROWN,ADD THE NEXT TWO AND COOK TILL SOFTEN STAGE.
    GREEN PEPPER-CUT INTO LITTLE PIECES
ONION-CUT INTO REAL SMALL PIECES. I USED A HALF ONION BECAUSE IT WAS LARGE.
ADD ONE LARGE CAN OF TOMATOES, MASHED WITH YOUR FINGERS. WHY NOT GOD GAVE THEM TO US TO USE. RIGHT?
1 CLOVE OF GARLIC. MORE IF YOU LIKE ALOT OF GARLIC. I USE ONLY ONE.
I ADD A SPRINKLE OF SUGAR TO CUT THE ACID FROM THE TOMATOES, SALT AND PEPPER OR SOME MRS.DASH TO YOUR TASTE.SOMETIMES I ADD A TABLESPOON OF TONE BEEF FALVORING I BUY FROM SAMS' DON'T HAVE TOO. ENJOY

    LOU
