We went to visit friends overnight and even though it was a fast visit it was good and relaxing.
It was a little sad though as they have moved to Arizona and are here closing their house and getting it ready to sell.
Being uncertain when we will see them again isn't good but I'm thankful for all of the technology that allows us to stay in touch. It so much easier than it used to be.
It was gloomy and cloudy when we left and we drove into the sunshine which was a bonus!
After we got back there was time to get the mowing done and for a little relaxation before starting the work week.
Hope you had a good weekend!

Hi Mare! So happy you got to go visit your friends. Remember that is, or should I say WHEN you go visit them, California is right next door! Luv and I are waiting for you!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Beth
It's sad when friends move away..It seems that drifting apart is inevitable...
ReplyDeleteIt is sad when good friends move away. And like Beth says, California is right next door, so if you go visit your friends, come see us, too! What fun we'll have. Beth can call her boyfriend Ross, and we'll all have lunch! And "hi" to Ole!
ReplyDeleteYes it is sad when good friends move away. In my case, it was me who moved away! In 1984 I left my home in Tacoma Washington and moved alone to the outskirts of Boston. I just hungered for adventure more than I did for settling down. Of the closest friends I had at home back then, one has stayed constantly in touch, two are ocassionally in touch and the rest have gone by the wayside for the most part. Some have passed away even. Then, in 1998 I made another major move, from Boston to New Jersey, to be with my Kevin. I am still in touch with most of my Boston friends. A few years ago I got back in touch with a lot of my old friends back home by joining FaceBook. And that's been fun! I am even a moderator for a private group on FB called "You Know You're From Tacoma When..."
ReplyDeleteMare, if you go to see your friends in Arizona, then go on to California, I promise I'll fly out there to hang out with you guys, as well! My sister lives out there!
We sold our house! The one that burned down on Feb. 9, 2014. We had it completely rebuilt from the frame up, and we hired a decorator before it was built to design every single thing in the interior, and it was all finished in December. We did odds and ends more to it for a few months following that. We signed the papers yesterday and we got a great price for it. We are doing pretty well at not mourning the "things" we lost, but the same is not true for the 3 kitties who passed, in the end, as a result of being in the fire. And now little Finnegan seems to be near his end, from the same thing. We consider that it all turned out very well except for losing our beloved kitties, and as of today kind of, the hellacious last two years are over. Yay!
We are in a beautiful rented house that I am enjoying immensely. We are staying here until next March. At that time, we will reassess how Kevin's mom is doing (sadly, she has slipped 98% into full dementia just the last few weeks) and how Kevin's job is going (the company seems to be going down the tubes). We will decide based on those things if we will buy another house in the country around here somewhere, or if we will move to my dream town, Beaufort, North Carolina. It's a little beach town, on an inlet off of the Atlantic ocean about halfway down the NC coast. We will take Jeanne down there if we go.
So that's our news. It's good to "see" all of you here! Beth, how's Mr NYC? We went up there for dinner not long ago. Luvs, how are your pups? And you? Missy George, what part of the country do you live in? Granny, how are you and gramps? Thought of you the other day when I was taking the BMW little convertible out of storage. Haven't been able to drive it in over a year.
Take care everyone! Have a great rest of the week!
Next weekend we are seeing Paul McCartney in concert in Philadelphia! Yay!
I have lost track of Ross. What is he up to?
