I don't think there are 10 random things about me that are totally interesting! LOL I'll give this some thought.

Very impressed that you got a degree at 51. Go Mare!! Wonderful!

Your list was most interesting! I guess you wouldn't have enjoyed a visit I once had with an old school chum I hadn't seen in 10 years. I was at her house. We were visiting when out from beneath the couch comes her 8 foot boa constrictor! I screamed and jumped away. She jumped for joy -- he had been missing. We finished our business and I never went back to her house again. LOL

Keep rockin, my friend! Sixties music is good for that. ;)

  9. Are there 10 random things about me that are interesting? Or that I want to share??? Let's see:

I went back to school to get a graduate degree when I realized the company I was working for was starting to downsize. It took 4 years, but I got a master's degree in psychology, and I was able to change careers on my own terms.

I love my career, but I am not a workaholic.

I believe in God, but don't like to label myself as any particular religion/belief. This upsets some people, but it works for me.

    I love the ocean.

I wish I would be more serious about meditation. Some day.

    I love eating out!

I have "dated" more men than I will ever admit to.

I love the color pink. For years I said my favorite color was blue, but I finally started saying it's pink when I hit 50.

My first crush was Pat Boone! Next was Bobby Rydell.

I love my family, and miss my parents every day.

I think I made it to 10! Thanks, Mare. This was fun! And congrats to you for going back to school!!

I love art & wish I had a talent for painting. I think the no.1 artist is God, he has done some beautiful work.
    I love history.
I have an awful fear of being blind.

Beth, something we don't have in common..sports..I was more into choir and singing groups and drill team than sports..and I didn't say I am SCARED of water (can NOT swim for anything) and have never seen the ocean..wonder if I ever will. I also have never had a real vacation (as a married person)
Don't know if you checked twitter, but went with hubby to Iowa today and because of flooding we had to go around...left at 3 and got back around 12 a.m..then tomorrow off to the next town (35 miles away) in the a.m. to wash clothes...STILL no washer/dryer, and then back for a ballgame at 7:45 tomorrow night...and this continues all week...I just want to get the house done, but probably won't be happening yet as I will be going back to western NE end of the week to see our oldest gradaughter for her 17th birthday.

  15. Well, one thing about me that you might not know is that I'm pretty shy! I'm having a hard time thinking of things to put up here. By the time I think of some, we'll have a new topic. LOL

One thing is that, despite all my joking about partying and drinking, I don't party at all and I get drunk about 2 or 3 times a year. I don't drink much really. It's just fun to joke about!

I used to be a bigwig group insurance expert in Tacoma Wash and Boston Mass for many years. I was a major workaholic. I miss being "important". Twenty years ago I crashed and burned one day at work from mental and physical exhaustion and that ended my career. I never fully recovered. I don't work now. I get disability pay. I miss working -- a lot! I miss being productive. I miss having co-workers. I miss contributing to society. I was very good at my job. Now I'm just good at being me. LOL I look around all the time for volunteer work. I almost always had volunteer gigs when I worked.

I love doing counted cross-stitch and reading.

My father died 5 years ago and I don't miss him. I know that sounds awful but he was very abusive to me all my life. The last thing he ever said to me on the day he died was a dig about my weight. Then he turned to my mother and brother and told them he loved them very much.

I got married for the first time at age 56.

I have lived in California (twice), Idaho, Washington State, Boston and now New Jersey.

I moved to Boston from Tacoma at age 34 alone without knowing a soul there.

I missed graduating high school with honors by 4/100ths of 1 point.

    I was always teacher's pet.

    I guess that's enough. LOL

    Katie
PS I started using the name Katie online in 1991. I have never used it in "real life". My name is Kathy, as those of you on FB know. But now I've been called Katie for so long I naturally answer to both. Actually my real name is Patricia Kathleen. I have never used Patricia anywhere and I don't answer to it.

You all mean very much to me!

    Katie

  16. Ok everyone...I LOVE all the info! So much fun (cuz one thing you all DO know about me is that i am a big SNOOP!!! no surprise or new info there, hm?)
Katie, you had awesome things to share! some I kind of knew, and some were new info...thanks! You are a brave soul moving like you did and plunging into marriage at 56! I did know your name was kathy, but it is hard for me to call you that because my other sister's name is Kathy (did ya know that??) Anyway, I am always afraid I will mess up your text for hers (did that one day! lol..she thought I was crazier than she normally does! :) And, just BTW...you are important to me (and I truly mean that!)You contribute SO much more than you could possibly even know!
Beth..what's up with this blogger thing? So sorry about that...at least now you can "follow" me (since you are blogger and not wordpress or was it open ID??) We could even make you a blog page...
OK, now I just done went too far didn't I??? LOL
TG: I think we like "simple" and our family and our puppies don't we ??? :)
LUVS..thanks! I am hoping when I fly out to see Beth that she will take me along Pacific Coast HWY and to the beach...and to Monterey and where she and Ross ate and...ooops, there I go again...someday...a girl's gotta dream,hm?
Oh, my mama was afraid of water and she finally let me take lessons and the girl told me to lay on the water like a bed and then turned around...down i went, and over and under and under and over and boy was I sick! Mom all but climbed the fence to get to me and hollered and they got me out but was I ever sick! Now I might give it a try if i could find a new suit and some new legs and a new tummy and...ok, I won't be trying it!
Well, if you all read my tweets, you know I was at the laundromat again today...and after a long (or rather SHORT) night, I am tired and I want to take a tiny snooze before I pick up hubs from work before I have to go back to the same town to watch my 3rd youngest granddaughter play softball..almost over..one more game..can't believe I live close enough to go see them!
Time for that snooze ladies...have a great day..
    Mare

  18. Probably is! She sounds very tired. I had 2 naps today & could use another. hubby asked if I wanted to ride out to the farm, but thot better of it. It takes him so long to do what is wanting to do, & it gets even hotter sitting in that pick up. Tomorrow is a dr. apt. (the wonderful ob-gyn guy)! He actually is a wonderful dr.
Granny I am so happy you are a love simple too! Katie, I can't call you Kathy either. I think she & I have some things to sort out, & we will one day. She is my sister, & I love her. She was always my very best friend,& I hope we can be more like that again one day.
I enjoyed reading about all of you. Fun to learn about people.
Forgot, I love music (most all kinds), love the piano. Was supposed to be cleaning my room today, & wound up playing hymns! Would love to quilt again, but hurts the hands!
hope you all have a good night! Rest well Little sister. (you forgot to tell everyone that we always celebrate you b.d. with a cup of coffee)!!! A very important fact.
