Checking In AND Spring Cleaning

Went for a Sunday drive over to see Dad. We met up with MaryE and her hubby for breakfast at the Vet's Club (do they have those in other parts of the country?) and then we all went over to see Dad. He was watching TV and very happy to see family walk in.
I needed to be cleaning out his closet and some drawers, so MaryE and I cleaned while the guys chatted with Dad and we would chat off and on and get his input as to what he had in mind for some of the clothes in his overcrowded closet.
We wound up taking a BUNCH of his jeans out and a couple items he wasn't wearing and a couple blankets, then on to old cards and notes and pictures. We tossed what we needed to and rounded up all of his cards to one place.
He seemed to be feeling pretty good and in good spirits. We sat with him while he had lunch and all visited and then went back and visited a bit more.
We had about 65 miles to go so we needed to head back to let the pooch out so made a quick stop to pick dad up a new tote to put the "extras" in (kept at MaryE's house) and off we came.
A nap was in order OF COURSE! and a quiet evening with some tv and snoozing off and on...all in all an enjoyable day.
Hope you all had a good weekend...we are looking at record highs of 60's...last year at this time it was cold and a year ago tomorrow there was a sleet and ice storm...more on why I remember later...
Have a great day everyone...
Mare

  4. Just to update on the house situation...
still in negotiations from the inspections, they should be cleared up by Wednesday.

Luvs-to respond back to your questions from an earlier post AND just to share with everyone! ...btw...I think it is NOT being nosey but being INTERESTED!!! :-)
The house is in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains, which I love!
It is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath ranch style house.
I will try to send Mare some pictures and maybe she can post just because you all have been so kind to listen to my loooooong ordeal.

    Hugs, Beth

  5. Wow! Your dad looks SO great, Mare and Mary! I'm in love with his little smile! The first pic where you are both laughing is a frame-worthy print! You have a beautiful smile, Mare.

MaryE, you looked so beautiful! You were all dressed up! Pretty pretty!

Jeanne said the other day that there's a lot to complain about with her nursing home, but she and her roommate decided to try to be happy there because it's the best place around. Kind of a mixed message but I'll take it as very positive!

Beth, I didn't know you'd found a house! Terrific! Good luck with the rest of the negotiations. Does it need much done to it? Sounds like a great place! How far is it from your mom's?

Hi Megan! So nice to see you post here! I think of you often...

HI GRANNY! HOPE YOUR HEADACHE GOES AWAY QUICKLY!

Sandra, Hi there! Hi Casey, Annie, Beach Bonnie and all else who lurk or post!

Things are very quiet here today. That's good! :)

  6. Hi Katie-it was built in the
'50's and was updated in the
80's so it needs some updating yet again. Will be fun to make it my own! It is only about 10 minutes from my mom.
    Hugs, Beth

  7. Beth, I hope things work out with the house. It would be good for you to get settled, with your own things around you again. My house was also built in the 50s, which was an interesting time for home building. It has beautiful oak floors, and a good size lot. It also had acoustic ceilings, which I had scraped off before I moved in. And small closets. But it's a solid little house.

    Oh this is exciting!

Luvs, wish I could see a snippet of your collection, or your pink front door..anything you would like to share...I know you need to be pretty anonymous.
Why don't you all tell us a little bit about where you live? Style, what you've done, what you like...I don't care...just something...love to know more about all of you...and if you like to thrift or buy new...etc..what you might collect..I KNOW..SNOOPY!!!!
OK, need to finish up and run some errands, mike stayed home today with his annual "crud"...not bad, just felt YUCK (and you know our guys...if he was SUPER sick, he would have gone to work LOL ...a good nap and some sleep and hes feeling beter.)

  12. Oh Mare. I have a mad crush on your Dad. Ever since my beloved Grandpa died when I was 12 I have gone through life wanting to adopt all the adorable old men I've come across. It's the ears that get me every time. I have even warped my girls who cannot see a cute old man without commenting. Your Pops just looks like he has a lot of love in him.
