I feel as though I am really behind with an update that I really wanted to make...better late than never??
The day after Megan's hubby left for New York, I drove out to spend a couple days with her and the girls. It was a fast visit, but SO nice to see them! I miss the hugs and just..miss...THEM!!!
What I didn't get to tell you is that Megan and the girls and hubby were in Colorado when her hubby got the call to be on a plane to get to New York. What were they doing in Colorado? That is where Megan went for chemo and testing and was now there for a followup. The last scan showed shadows on her liver and she was still feeling (REALLY feeling) the affects of chemo. The results of this test? Clear...I. mean. CLEAR. It is really early in her recovery, but CLEAR! The shadows on her liver were even gone...CLEAR. There are many followups to come, but to hear this, especially when she is feeling gross yet from the chemo, was beyond unbelievable and fantastic!
SO...there are many more tests to come over the course of time, but to have such a super result needed to be shared.
I can't tell you how happy I was to be out with her to "celebrate" good news. Naps are still necessary and things aren't anywhere near great for her BUT...this is a HUGE deal.
For all you wonderful people who have asked about her, prayed for her, thought about her and CARE, I just wanted to share and tell you how grateful I am for all of your support.
MARE-thanks for sharing that wonderful update. Sending much strength and good thoughts to Megan and you all

Katie
Thanks for hanging in with me Kath. I have SO appreciated the support (and diversion when needed :)
DeleteWow, that is great news! I hope Megan starts to feel better real soon. Love this pic of you with the girls!
ReplyDeleteThanks Luvs. Megan was trying to take a picture of the girls to send to Hubby when he was in NY and I decided to do what the girls always do to me and "sneak" into their picture. :)
DeleteYEAH/YIPPEE/THANK GOD!!! Great news and I also hope and pray that she starts feeling better soon. I continue to pray for her and family.
ReplyDeleteThis was our first Thanksgiving here. Easter was the first family celebration here. With 16 of us it was a little tight but I really think everyone had a good time. Lots of laughter! Mr.NYC goes back on Monday. We took it easy yesterday, went to see the movie "Lincoln", which was good, great acting and just had leftovers for dinner. I think I will put him to work today though! I have to use him while he is in town!
Hugs to all,
Beth
Thanks Beth. You KNOW how appreciated the prayers are.
DeleteYour house is getting a nice "breaking in" with family events. :) How is your mom? Hope doing well.
MARE, THAT'S A REAL THANKSGIVEN STORY. JUST WONDERFUL TO KNOW THAT OUR PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED FOR SUCH A HEALING IS SOMETHING WE CAN REALLY GIVE THANKS FOR.I WISH I COULD JUST PUT MY ARMS AROUND HER AND GIVE HER A GREAT BIG HUG,GRANNY STYLE.WE'LL JUST STAND ON OUR PRAYERS THAT SHE'LL BE HEALED THROUGH HER FIVE YEAR CHECKS.GOD IS SO GOOD.
ReplyDeleteLOU
AMEN Lou! We all know it will be a long and rocky road but faith holds us steady.
DeleteI know I can always count on your prayers. :)
hi mare! thank you for stopping by and telling me about your camera! funny thing is i just got a fujifilm bridge camera :) i hadn't even heard of the bridge cams till i was starting all my research and it seems like it will do what i want and got some pretty good reviews so i'm excited! i just wasn't sure i was ready to step up into a dslr so this is the best of both worlds right? ;)
ReplyDeletegreat news on the clear results!! prayers that they stay that way!
Thanks Tanya, and welcome! I am excited that you found a bridge camera too. Maybe you will be a bit faster learning the ropes than I've been. I know I need to take some time and just work with it, but for now "auto" has been my friend. :)
DeleteMare... I was so happy to read this post. To hear the words CLEAR were wonderful. The power of prayer, the belief in humanity that people care, opens the door to healing. Anyone with the name Megan is special in my book and my special angels had their arms wrapped around her at all times. Hope she is feeling better soon. God is good!! Megan is blessed with this miracle...CLEAR~~such a beautiful word for you to hear about your daughter at this point. Wonderful news Mare!!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Gloria
Thank you Gloria. I believe you when you say the power of prayer and belief in humanity that people care...I know you have been and are there and it means a lot for you to say that.
DeleteAll I can say is, Praise the Lord! Great is his faithfullness to us! Love u, S
ReplyDeleteTook me just a second to think who "S" is because Great is his faithfulness just hugged me when I read it...
DeleteGrandma's favorite hymn "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and it was even played at her funeral. It's our legacy. Aren't we blessed?? Love you so much.
M
That is beyond great news!!! What an answer to prayer!!! Doing the HAPPY DANCE!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! No name but am thinking this might be from Concord?? HAPPY DANCE indeed!! :)
DeleteMATHEW 18:20
ReplyDeleteMare, it's 28F there right now? Ouchies! That's COLD! It's around 45F here and I was whining about that! LOL
ReplyDeleteMy brother is going to lose his battle any time now. The 3 caregivers are all so worn out they are infighting and considering putting Don in the hospital. I wish I could go back again right now, but I can't. All I can do is help try to arrange things that will help by phone and give moral support by phone. I can't reach anyone when they're at Don's so some days I don't know how he's doing. I call mom on the nights she goes home, which is kind of rare. It's his time now though. I just hope he passes peacefully...
Anonymous is now putting up Bible verses?

Katie
Thanks for the update Katie. I know I have been wondering how things are going but hate to keep asking as it is hard enough to deal with. I am certain your mom is exhausted not only with the physical but the emotional. You were there when you truly needed to be and I am sure that was a real blessing to all, PLUS it gave you a chance to spend time with your brother and say all the things one wants to say.
DeletePraying your mom can get some rest and that your brother does pass peacefully.
BIG hugs to you. Thinking of you all often.
Oh, and I thought the Bible verse was from my cousin (thanks for filling me in TG). So far I haven't had any postings that I didn't know where they came from. "S" is my cousin and the anon "HAPPY DANCE" was my niece. :)
Again, you will and your family will certainly be in my thoughts! Just know you are doing all you can and exactly what you need to do. I feel certain your family feels you close to them (not presuming, but from what you have shared.)
HUGS!
KATIE, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU REALLY NEED A HUGH HUG. I LOST MY BIG BROTHER TO CANCER ALSO. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE THERE BUT NOT THE LAST MINUTE. I WAS HOME RESTING. I WAS SO HAPPY HE KNEW HOW MUCH I LOVED HIM. TO WATCH YOUR LOVED ONE PASS IS A VERY HARD THING TO GO THROUGH.I DID GET TO TALK TO HIM. SO SORRY YOU CAN'T GO BACK. I'M SURE YOUR IN HIS LAST THOUGHTS. I PRAY FOR YOU ALL THE TIME AND I'VE PRAYED FOR YOUR BROTHER SO MANY TIME I CAN'T COUNT. DEATH IS GODS WILL NOT OURS. SOME THINGS IN LIFE CAN'T BE ANSWERED. THAT'S ONE REASON CHRISTIAN LIVE WITH "'FAITH IN OUR HEARTS.I'VE HAD MORE ANSWERED PRAYER THAN UNANSWERED. AS FOR THE ANONYMOUS BIBLE VERSE I WAS THE ONE THAT PUT IT ON HERE. I JUST FORGOT TO SIGN MY NAME. THE BIBLE VERSE JUST KINDA BLENDED IN TO THIS POST. KINDA LIKE A HALLELULAH AND GIVING THANKS FOR ANSWERED PRAYER.IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN VERSE 19 AND 20.
ReplyDeleteALL IT SAID WAS-
AGAIN I TELL YOU THAT IF TWO OF YOU ON EARTH AGREE ABOUT ANYTHING YOU ASK FOR, IT WILL BE DONE FOR YOU BY MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.FOR WHERE TWO OR THREE GATHER IN MY NAME THERE AM I ALSO.
THERE'RE A FEW ON MARE'S BLOG THAT GATHERED AND PRAYED FOR MEGAN.THOUGHTS SENT ARE A FORM OF PRAYER ALSO AS I SEE IT, NOW IS A TIME FOR THANKSGIVING. AND PRAISE. EVEN WHEN YOUR BROTHER PASSES I WILL GIVE PRAISE FOR HIM ALSO THAT HE'LL BE IN OUR LORDS ARMS WITH NO PAIN AND NO MORE SUFFERING AS I DID FOR MY BROTHER.
WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE BUT FOR SOME REASON GOD IS THE ONE THAT GET ME THROUGH. I TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME.

LOU
Lou, thank you for telling me the verse was from you. I appreciate that (thought it was my cousin:)
ReplyDeleteYes, Katie has our support, prayers and love...many of us can really empathize with her as it is a very tough place to be and how my heart goes out to her and her family.
BTW , could you please send some warm weather to NE? and is my weather feed crazy or is really COLD in California right now??? UGH! even had a skiff of snow this a.m.
Winter is here...at least in my neck of the woods and it looks like around the U.S. too! *sniffle*
MARE I JUST WENT OUTSIDE AND BLEW AND BLEW THE WARMTH YOUR WAY. DID YOU FEEL THE GALE? THE SUN IS JUST SINKING IN THE WEST SLOWLY. IT'S ALWAY A GOOD TIME TO SIT ON THE BEACH TO WATCH THE SUNSETS. SOME ARE SO BEAUTIFUL. IT'S 76 RIGHT NOW AND WILL DIP MORE WHEN THE SUN DISAPPEARS. LAST NIGHT IT WAS 43 AND I LOVED IT. I ACTUALLY DUG OUT A FANNEL SHEET AND THREW IT OVER ME. GRAMPS TURNED THE HEAT ON THIS MORNING LONG ENOUGH TO WARM UP THE HOUSE.60 IS OUT AND OUT COLD FOR ANYONE LIVING IN FLORIDA. I ALWAY LOOK FORWARD TO THE COOL DOWN. I SAY, BRING IT ON.
DeleteLOU
Thank you, ladies, for explaining everything!
ReplyDeleteWe had mixed rain and snow this morning and the snow was supposed to stick but it didn't. I think it was 30F out. I have a little space heater here in the office by the computer and I've had it running most of this afternoon. Kevin keeps it around 71 in here but we have this weird draft. We live in a split level and for some reason the downstairs gets really cold and the upstairs gets warm. But we have an open 2 story entryway and the cold really comes up the stairway. The converse is true when we have a fire in the woodstove downstairs, which we do most evenings. I don't make fires during the day. I can, but I don't. I just dress warmly and spend a lot of time in the office. LOL
Sixty IS really cold for Florida, isn't it Granny?! I used to have a good friend in Daytona Beach who hated it when it got that cold. Sixty here this time of year makes the news! LOL It was supposed to be 60 last Friday but it never quite made it. It was 27 last night!
I've been hankering for a new purse. I think Coach leather this time. Bad thing to want in Christmas shopping season! LOL
I did order quite a few things online yesterday for Kevin's 50th birthday which is Dec. 8th. He's just a baby! LOL
