Oh dear! Mr.NYC goes home today to 10 degree weather! He is so sad to leave the 70's & 80's he has had the entire time here. Unusually warm even for us. My cousin's who live in northeast Montana are suppose to have minus 20 on Monday! Yikes! Warm Hugs! Beth
It was 1 degree here last night! Today is warmer and tomorrow will be almost 40! Then back to around 16 degrees. We have 7 inches of snow and ice. Beth, can I come see you until, say, May? LOL
MARE, WE'RE GOING TO GET HIT HARD WITH 20'S AND 30'S IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. I BETTER WASH OUT MY WOOL BLOOMERS. ANYONE FOR POPCORN AND A WOODBURNING FIRE. SOUNDS COZY FOR THIS EXTRA COLD WINTER. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE SHOWER YESTERDAY, IT WAS SO COLD IN THE BATHROOM I HAD ICICLES HANGING WHERE ICICLES SHOULDN'T HANG. OK, JUST KIDDING. GET OUT THE EXTRA BLANKET. GOOD TIME TO CUDDLE.
Well, it turned out to be 60 here today! Nice! We are trying to catch 3 feral cats in humane traps so we can get them spayed/neutered/shots and then either release them or take them to a no-kill shelter. It's going to be 18 degrees tomorrow and stay like that all week! Too cold for kitties to be outdoors! About an hour ago we caught one of the feral kittens in the trap. Yay! Right now she's in the semi-heated garage with food and a blanket over her cage. Tomorrow Kev will take her to the vet. Yahoo! One down, two to go!
Thanks Luvs! We have only caught one of the kittens so far. He was neutered yesterday so he is relaxing in some warm bedding in a cage next to a heater in the garage right now. Tomorrow he will be released and we'll put the trap back out to try to catch his mom and sibling. I am going to buy 2 styrofoam coolers if I can find them, duct tape the lids on, flip them over, cut a whole in the end and put a thick towel inside each for temporary shelter for these cats. It's awfully cold out here right now and will remain cold for a while.
Today our trap caught another feral cat we can take in for spay or neuter! Yay! Funny thing though, the cat we released yesterday went back in the trap ( with the other cat) today! LOL Guess he's still cold and hungry.
I live in Central New York and the Governor called a State of Emergency the last two days. Yesterday it was below 0 and a wind chill factor that brought us into the minus figure all day. My daughter lives in Oswego New York and that is where Al Roker of NBC went to college. They had over 3 feet of snow in a 24 hour period and then another foot dropped today. This morning I woke to 4 degrees and we got up to 18 degrees. Just burr cold so I have stayed in the apartment.
The City of Syracuse and surrounding areas have drove around picking up homeless people and bringing them to shelters.
I love my apartment and I have adjusted very well to it. This morning I woke and the smoke detector was peeping for it needed a new battery. I called the rental office and they sent someone right over. I told the maintenance person I had the battery but I no longer own a ladder. He said, he would take care of it for me from now on.
GLORIA, DON'T YOU REMEMBER THE BLIZZARD WE HAD BACK IN THE EARLY 60'S? WE WERE SNOWED IN FOR DAYS. NO WAY IN AND NO WAY OUT. I LOVED IT. IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL OUTSIDE. ALSO, SO HAPPY YOU LOVE YOUR NEW LIFE LIVING IN AN APARTMENT. I COULD ADJUST IF I HAD GOOD NEIGHBORS AND BEAUTY AROUND ME. MAYBE EVEN A WATERFALL FOR WHEN MARE VISITS. MEALS ON WHEEL JUST RANG THE DOORBELL. ANOTHER GREAT MEAL. THANK GOD FOR THEM.THEY'VE BEEN A LIFESAVER FOR US DURING OUR HEALTH ISSUES.WELL WORTH THE CHECK WE SEND THEM AT THE END OF THE MONTH. THEY LIKE $2.25 A MEAL. IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT THAT'S OK TOO. WELL WORTH IT AND THE PEOPLE THAT DELIVER ARE SOME OF THE NICEST PEOPLE YOU'LL EVER MEET. THEY MAKE YOUR DAY HAPPY. TIME TO EAT.YUM
I HOPE IT'S WARMING UP FOR YOU MARE. NICE HERE TODAY. 80'S BY THE END OF THE WEEK.
Today we have reached 32 degrees so I may venture out after I finish my laundry. I have blinds on the windows and have not purchased curtains or sheers. I decided I just want to put up sheers. I like the blinds on the windows and the sun shines in most of the morning so it is nice & bright in here. The sheers would defuse the sun a little but still make it bright in here.
Glad you are getting Meals of Wheels Lou. You and Gramps have had a hard time recently and you deserve to be pampered. My aunt delivers Meal on Wheels after she retired. She said it gets her up and going in the morning and makes it a nice day for her to see smiles from other people. She has created a large friend list. Glad you are taking advantages of the help.
Take care everyone. With it being 32 degrees, Syracuse is having a heat wave.
