You are a natural beauty!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Beth
ps. I am one casual gal also!
well, I am truly ROFL!! I look like my dad's side of the familly-and you've all seen my dad-need I say more???I know I'm on the homely side, but i am finally, at this age, coming to grips with it. I don't know why I felt I could put this on but i was feeling BRAVE! I would LOOOOOVE pix from any of you who are brave enough to share them !!!! Just attach your pix to my email and I will SHARE...yep, that's a DARE!!!! Tag-you're it!!
ReplyDeleteMare, do you honestly think you're a bit on the homely side? You don't look that way to me AT ALL! I have always thought you have a natural beauty. Your features are all nice, your skin is gorgeous, you wear your hair perfectly to accentuate your good features--all in all, a pretty woman. And you have aged VERY well!
ReplyDeleteI have been lucky all my life and was a cute kid, an attractive teen and fairly good looking as an adult. But the last few years have really taken a toll on my face! The combination of stress and weight gain have taken away my looks. I'm mostly okay with that though. I have other qualities that are important. I will take you up on your photo challenge! I should be able to get a head shot tomorrow. I love that you're doing this!
xoxox to everyone
Kathy
Well Kathy that's sweet but YES, I have always seen myself as quite homely and at best VERY plain. It has only been inthe last couple years or so as I share photos and stories here that I have gotten used to seeing myself and accepting what I look like AND I can see in some of the younger photos that I probably wasn't quite as homely as I thought although still not good. The funny thing is, and probably why I wanted to share this is...I'm pretty ok with where I am now although the wrinkle in that magnifying mirror creep me out just a...LOT!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited that some of you are going to share...and I love that Gloria put in her younger pix. May have to dig up my graduation picture and add it too. Hope you will consider joining in..looks like great fun to me!
Mare, seriously, you have kind of a distorted belief about your looks. I've always thought you are pretty, and have seen childhood pictures of you, and you were a pretty little girl. Not sure where your thoughts come from, but they aren't accurate! Maybe in your 60s, your task will be to take a good look in the mirror, and see who's REALLY there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the professional advice Luvs-I mean that for real! I am doing better with being able to take a *real look in the mirror*. The blog has helped so much with being able to do that. I really appreciate when other bloggers can put it out there and I wanted to be able to do that too. So, thanks for letting me put on my big girl panties and deal with some stuff!! Hugs
DeleteI think we all find fault with our looks. We are looking in the mirror and the mirror does not talk back. In our younger years we all went through the odd stages of life. I was so skinny that I thought I just looked like a boy with long hair. No boobs and no hinny. Never wore a bra until I was 16 years old. The older I got the more I saw my personal beauty inside and out. Never saw other men looking at me but my ex certainly did. He would always make remarks. I am a very out going person and through out life have been an open book in communicating with people (not shy). My hair was red and my body was covered with massive amount of freckles growing up. The red is gone and the freckles have faded. The wrinkles of age are there but the prednisone that I take is my Botox...lol
ReplyDeleteHope everyone posts a picture of the past and present....or just the cutest little furry animal that you care to post that puts a smile on your face....
Take care,
Gloria
I LOVE this post and I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said. Mare, I think YOU and ALL the other ladies are beautiful and you should remember to always celebrate your beauty that you all have inside and out!!! I have a hard time doing that, so I need to remember this myself!
ReplyDeleteMare, thanks for the nice comment, especially about my eyes. Please, everyone, keep in mind that I took today's picture after spending yesterday in the hospital ER. I have acute gastroenteritis, a spastic colon, acute bronchitis and I'm extremely dehydrated! Plus I'm squinting here because both eyes are slightly infected and I need stronger glasses so I've taken mine off except to drive. When I get well I'll send Mare another pic (and when my hair is fixed right!)
ReplyDeleteOK Beth? Luvs? Kim? Photos please?
Funny story sort of -- the last night I was in Ireland, July 12th 2 months ago, I was in a pub and two older gentlemen approached me. Steven and Paddy. Paddy threw his arm around me and said, "I know women! I know what women need! Your husband isn't telling you often enough that you're beautiful! Because you are!" I laughed it off, he was three sheets to the wind drinking his beloved Guinness. We had a beer together and chatted, him mostly trying to convince me to go with him and telling me it would be the biggest mistake of my life if I didn't "have" an Irishman at least once before leaving Ireland. Everyone was laughing. The 3 bartenders were keeping an eye on things so he didn't get too out of hand. When he realized I really wasn't going to leave with him, he told me again I was beautiful, but he had to catch the boat home to his wife. LOL When he left, the other gentleman who had been standing behind him the whole time stepped up and proclaimed "Really, I saw you first so you should go with me!" Again we all had a good laugh, I told him no, of course, which prompted him to say then he had to leave to catch the bus home to his wife. All those lovely Irish accents! And cheapskates that didn't even buy me a beer. LOL It sure was nice being told I'm beautiful, even under those silly circumstances. And? You know? My husband *doesn't* tell me I'm beautiful often enough.
Yikes!! What a time of it! I can't believe you took time to send a picture when you feel so rotten!!and as for those irishmen-what a compliment really! I had to laugh when they had to leave to get home to their wives...oh my goodness!
ReplyDeleteFeel better...
SueZ??? Don't hear from you much, but would LOOOOVE a picture or two! Beth? (Luvs, I think you can't post pix because of work is that correct or did I just make that up?) Anyone else? How about Casey?? Doesn't have to be just us ladies!
Hoping some more will share...you are all GREAT!
Looking GREAT everyone. I think we have all aged well. I think I might be the oldest so far posting a picture. Age to me is just another year. Never bothered me. I sent Mare another picture.....me in the 5th grade in 1960. In the picture you can see the freckles!!!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Gloria
Beth, I was just sure you would have long, blonde hair! LOL Beautiful woman, for sure!
ReplyDeleteGloria, the eldest? Really? I was born 2-28-52 so I just turned 62.
Missy George! You look very much like Diane Keaton! Great looking!
...ad I'm back to bed
Kathy....I am 65 years old. January 28, 2015, I will be 66 years old... I personally do not feel any of us "look" our age at whatever that is. Age is a mind set and some days I feel great and some days "age" sneaks in and kicks me in the butt... It is what it is.....
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Gloria

LOU.
Oh Lou...I am laughing over the wrinkles. I am taking prednisone so that is my BOTOX fix for wrinkles. The medication has a tendency to cause your face to look swollen, so I lucked out being thin, that the meds filled in where the wrinkles were...
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Gloria
