(Sister's display of love: my granddaughter's hands-Moe&Graycie)
SISTERS
She knows the things I dream of, the places that I've been,
she accepts the person I've become, she's a very special friend.
She's always been there for me, no matter where I roam,
and whenever we're together, it's just like being home.

To this poem I say "AMEN"
Oh Mare, I second that AMEN! As my sister sleeps in the other room, I can tell you that she has been a HUGE support for me in this last year of ups and downs. She is here everyday for me, my support and friend. I am lucky to have 2 sisters just like you do and they are both wonderful, I am very blessed! I know I can count on them for anything.
ReplyDelete(I have to say my brother is pretty great also,...just incase he reads this!)
Hugs, Beth
That's wonderful! I wish I had the same kind of relationship with my sisters. The one that I was the closest to growing up - we had a falling out a year and a half ago when I caught her in a lie. She then told me that I was screwing up my kids' lives and I haven't spoken to her since. My other two sisters are just emotionally distant. We talk, but nothing significant. One even had the nerve to criticize me because I am collecting survivor's benefits from my ex-husband. I don't understand.
ReplyDeleteI am somewhat closer to my brothers, but they are 21 years older than I am so there's almost a generational gap there. I have a couple of neices that I am close to, and they have become more like sisters to me. Plus, I have my friends.
I love the picture, Mare! So precious!
:)
Good a.m. all...left a comment in Area 51 (MaryE, that means the previous post)
ReplyDeleteOH, Amy..I forgot to say "21 years difference!!DANG, that's a big age gap...MaryE is 10 years older and we thought THAT was a fairly big gap!LOL
Have a great day everyone...
MY SISTER DIED WHEN SHE WAS SEVEN. I NEVER KNEW HER. I'M THE YOUNGEST AND SHE WAS THE OLDEST. I ALWAY WANTED A SISTER.THE CLOSEST TO A SISTER THAT I HAVE LIVES IN UPSTATE N.Y..SHE LIVES IN THE MOUNTAINS. SHE HAS BEEN MY BEST BEST SISTER FRIEND FOR ABOUT 67 YEARS.SHE ALSO STOOD UP FOR ME IN OUR WEDDING. SHE'S ABOUT 76 OR 77. I ALWAY TAGGED ALONG WHEREVER SHE WENT AS A KID AND SHE NEVER SAID NO YOU CAN'T COME WITH ME. WE'VE NEVER HAD A FIGHT, NOT EVEN ONE. NOW THAT'S A FRIEND. BUT THE SAD NEWS IS SHE WILL BE FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE.LAST WEEK THE DOCTOR FOUND A TUMOR AT THE END OF HER SPINE AND A BONE DISASE .SHE HAS TO HAVE ROUND THE CLOCK HELP. THE SAD THING IS I CAN'T BE WITH HER. SO ENJOY YOUR SISTERS OR MAKE UP. TOMORROW MAY NOT COME.

MARE, LOVE YOUR BIBLE VERSE TODAY.
ReplyDeleteALSO, WHEN GRAMPS WAS OUT FRONT WITH JOEY THERE WERE COP CARS NEXT DOOR. THE MEN WERE JUST LEAVING. GRAMPS ASKED THE FATHER OF THE YOUNG GIRL THAT LIVES THERE IF THEY WERE BROKEN INTO LAST NIGHT. THE FATHER SAID NO THAT HER BOYFRIEND THAT LIVED THERE WITH HER WAS SHOT AND KILLED LAST NIGHT ON THE JOB. HE WAS A GUARD AT AN APARTMENT COMPLEX. WE ARE SO SHOCK THIS MORNING. THE FATHER SAID THE WEDDING PLANS WERE ALL MADE. ALL ALONG I THOUGHT THEY WERE MARRIED. HE WAS A VERY SWEET YOUNG MAN. MY HEART IS HEAVY FOR HER THIS MORNING. THEY WERE VERY PRIVATE AND KEPT TO THEMSELVES. A LITTLE SHY. HE AND I JUST TALKED LAST WEEK. HE WANTED TO BE A COP SO BAD. HE WAS ON THE WAITING LIST.
GRANNY
Mare-my other sister lives about 30min.away so close enough to see each other often. We both love musical theatre so we go see plays a couple times a year.
ReplyDeleteTG-SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR FRIEND AND YOUR NEIGHBOR. THEY ARE BOTH TRAGIC AND SAD. YOU HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH A WONDERFUL FRIEND IN YOUR LIFE. I HAVE TO SAY THAT I AM ENVIOUS. PRAYERS TO YOU, YOUR FRIEND AND NEIGHBORS.
Amy-so many different dynamics in families, aren't there? We do the best we can. I think the first time I heard the saying 'we can pick our friends but we can't pick our families' I thought it was SO brilliant!
Hugs, Beth
Good afternoon ladies!
ReplyDeleteMare, good topic and I love the picture! I have just one sister, who is 2 years older. She lives in San Diego. I have seen her once since 1993. We were always close as kids but as adults we seem to kind of fade into and out of each others' lives from time to time. Right now we are close. We have struggled a little because she is a true perfectionist and thinks she has to be the perfect big sister. Anything less in her eyes and she is a bad person. So sad. I don't need a perfect sister. I just need a sister. She is a really good person and I love her a lot. I think she feels a little sorry for me because I am not perfect. Weird! LOL
GRANNY I'M SO SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR TWO TRAGEDIES. IT SEEMS AS WE GET OLDER, WE LOSE MORE AND MORE CLOSE PEOPLE, DON'T WE? SORRY ABOUT YOUR NEIGHBOR, TOO. VERY SAD.
Beth, you are lucky to live near your sisters! Sounds like you have neat relationships with them!
Amy, tough situation, huh? I know a big age spread is hard. My older brother is quite a bit older than me so we were never close until about 5 years ago. Even now I don't know if you'd call it close. He's very loving when I see him (once a year) but he never calls or anything. Even before he got sick.
Gotta run. Have lots of pre-vaca stuff to do. Still trying to reach mom today. She's been sleeping all day and her caretaker won't let me talk to her (I'd wake her up! LOL)
Have a good evening everyone! Misty and cold here today. Also, rain is forecast for our first 3 days of vacation at the beach! No matter, we'll have a good time cracking a beer and gabbing with Kevin's big brother.
Katie
Oops...realized I have a couple more things to say!
ReplyDeleteBeth, huge congratulations to your daughter for getting a teaching job! Sounds like a good one. I hope she loves it and they love her! What grade or subject will she be teaching?
Mare, thanks for putting the quote back. I just LOVE that quote! LOL
As for calling the doc in the big city...a lot of them won't talk to me because of privacy laws. They want a written consent from mom, which she can't do right now. I need to ask mom a couple more questions before I try to call either her specialist (who did the surgery) or her Primary.
Right now mom's 19 year old loser great granddaughter is staying with mom. IF she doesn't steal anything, she'll probably do an ok job. She has a good heart; she just took the wrong path in life. The whole family has been working with her on trying to get straightened out just this past 2 months. I'm going to call her later this afternoon and have a talk with her about making mom eat nutritiously. Mom only wants sweets and Shelby just gives her what she wants. I'll fix that, I hope. Shelby is very single-minded and stubborn. She's still at the age where she thinks she knows everything and all adults are stupid. Oy! But this WILL work out in the end!

Mare - Love the picture of your granddaughter's hands. Very clever. Looking at my girls and my granddaughters I see that sisters are indeed very special. Alas, I am a sister but I have none.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this picture of your granddaughter's hands! I don't have a sister. Like Annie, I am one, though. My brother and I are pretty close. I don't know what I'd do without him. Both of my parents are gone, so it's nice to have my brother. Who else knows what it was like in my family?
ReplyDeleteMare, to answer from A51. No, I am not gardening today. It's actually kind of cold today, but I work Monday through Thursday. Sometimes when it's sunny, I get out for an hour or so before going to work, but not today. I work from noon til 8. Oh, I did go out and shoot some Roundup on a few dandelions before I left for work, so I guess I did some gardening.
I JUST THOUGHT I'D COME ON FOR A MINUTE AND SAY GOOD NIGHT. I WAS OUT SIDE TALKING WITH MY NEIGHBORS FATHER AND HIS SON ABOUT THE SHOOTING OF HIS DAUGHTER FUTURE HUSBAND THAT WILL NEVER BE NOW. THE KID WAS ONLY 26 YEARS OLD AND TO BE KILLED FOR NOTHING I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND. HE WAS WAITING TO BE ACCEPTED AS A COP. HIS ONE LOVE WAS THE LAW.I DIDN'T REALLY KNOW THE KIDS EXCEPT TO TALK TO MATT OUT IN THE YARD BUT TO STAND THERE TONIGHT AND SEE THE FATHER AND BROTHER OF SUE CRY JUST TORE ME UP. THEY WERE SO GLAD THAT I WALKED OVER. I TOLD THEM I WASN'T UP TO TALKING TO HIS DAUGHTER BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. MURDER IS MURDER.I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. I'LL BET ANYTHING THAT IT WAS SOMEONE RIGHT THERE IN THAT APARTMENT COMPLEX.THE FATHER ASKED FOR PRAYER FOR HIS DAUGHTER FOR THEIR LIVES HAVE ALL BEEN CHANGED FOREVER. THE MOTHER HAS TERMINAL CANCER AND THE FATHER HAS HEART PROBLEMS. SO SO SAD.WHAT A DAY.....
ReplyDeleteGRANNY
Wow, makes me sad to think that not everyone has a special sister like I do! I was always so grateful that my parents had her, I thought she was a special gift just for me! Could not believe that I had been given such a gift. I miss not having you near little sis! Maybe someday. Am so sorry about your neighbors, granny, so many problems & to have someone shot, hard to imagine. Is awful.
ReplyDeleteGood night little sister. I hope you sleep well. Keep writing. You do a wonderful job at that!
Time to tell you all goodnight. Granny..how awful! That family has to feel like they will never be ok again.
ReplyDeleteKatie..hope your mom had a good day...it has to be hard to get to the drs in a large hospital. I was fortunate that where ever the folks have been I have been able to get information. Even when mom was in the burn unit, but that was a pretty enclosed area so they "knew" who it was and that we could get info...hippa (is that how you spell it?) is a PAIN!
Annie and LUVS, wishing you great "girlfriends" to stand in as a sister for you (or a niece or cousin, etc) It is wonderful to be blessed with a sibling of your own gender. Of course, I don't have a brother, so not sure how that would be!! :)
Beth..lots of packing today?
Amy..was happy to see the pix over on your blog..you really got some good ones..what a nice day out you had.
Need to think about getting around for the night. Hope you all have had a good eve and rest well..
Mare
Thank you Mary Etta!! I love you too!
mare
MaryE,I think you are a wonderful sister! :)
ReplyDeleteMare, are things settling down a little for you now? Not that they will be easier, just maybe more quiet and routine.
Mom is recovering. She has recovered enough to start whining a little and wanting to be babied! LOL She is refusing to get up and walk a few times a day (just to the living room and back) and I suspect she will pay for that in the recovery process. "It hurts too much." So I take these all as good signs. Shelby seems to be doing as well as one could expect. We made an arrangement so she now puts my calls through to mom. So things are getting more back to normal and I think the rest of the recovery will be routine. She always heals very slowly since she hit her 70s or so. I just can't thank all of you enough for all of your love and support! I don't know what I would have done without your eyes and ears and compassion.
Beth, good luck packing today. When's the deadline?
GRANNY, THE WORLD IS NOT FULL OF HORRIBLE PEOPLE. YOU WERE JUST EXPOSED TO ONE OF THE WORST AND THAT IS A FLUKE. I HAVE GREAT SYMPATHY FOR YOUR NEIGHBOR AND HER FAMILY IN THIS TIME OF SORROW. REMEMBER THAT THIS YOUNG MAN ACCEPTED A JOB HE KNEW WAS VERY DANGEROUS IN A DANGEROUS PLACE. NOT UNUSUAL FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BE A POLICEMAN. WHAT A SHAME. NOW EVERYONE MUST TRY REAL HARD TO MOVE FORWARD. THAT'S JUST MY TWO CENTS. AND YOU HAVE MY SYMPATHY. (((GRANNY)))
Katie
Well everyone, there is a commercial on DWTS so I am going to say goodnight.
ReplyDeleteHas been a cloudy day and a bit chilly...went and got med checks this a.m. (always fun) no big deal, but a bit of a pain I think.
Katie, SO glad to hear your mom is making some progress..will certainly be easier to relax a little bit now. Also glad you "got it straight" that you are to talk to her when you call. Will you plan on going out to see her later? Wasn't sure if you made it home once or twice a year.
Hope everyone has had a good day...sleep well..
